The Fairies have flown away from our Brighton studio for this year.

As expected the Fairy Experience completely sold out this year. We welcomed over 70 fairies and elves into the studio where they were greeted by our Fairy Queens, Anita and Emma into the fairy tale woodland of make-believe.

We had tears of happiness and joy from the most parents who viewed their little darling children projected up onto the big screen in their element. Only a few tears from the little ones (nothing to do with my cake making)! Everyone had much a great time, including all the staff here at Phase Photographic.

This exquisite children’s photography experience only comes to Brighton once a year and we are already planning our next big event for next Easter.

This year we have raised over £160 for our chosen charity Chestnut Tree House. Have a look at their website to see where all the donations have gone http://www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/

We also run a competition for the best dressed fairy or Elf which will be announced next week!

We would just like to say a massive thank you to all the Fairies and Elves that took part in this year’s competition and helped us raise lots of £’s for this amazing children’s charity. The fairy queen’s are working their magical fairy dust on your photographs now! A big thank you also goes out to all the nurseries and friends of the studio who have helped us to promote the event. Lastly, thank you to all the fairies and elves that were so polite about my handmade cakes which I now know were not very nice at all!

The first thing that your clients need to know when seeking someone to take photographs of their special event is what a Pro Photographer is not.

A Pro Photographer is not

• A person with a new expensive camera
• A friend who knows a bit about photoshop
• Someone who gives away his images
• A person who sells their images for not a lot      of money

OK so we can all agree what a pro photograher is not, but it is equally important that we explain to potential clients why they should employ a Pro Photographer and what they can expect to receive in return for paying your professional fees.

So here are a few bullet points for you to build into your story to potential clients.

A Pro Photographers is:-

• An individual with an Artists eye
• A person who understands image composition
• Skilled in the importance of correct lighting
• Knowledgeable about colour correction
• Knows where to get prints and/or printing to ensure best quality images

What is most important is that your clients dramatically improve their chances of receiving images that not only hold their value and integrity for generations to come but that capture those so precious moments that may never be captured by the person with just an expensive camera.

Last but not least great images are worthless if no one views them with the best products to display your images.

Not only was Claire and Justin a treat for any photographer for good looks, but they were good fun, quirky and oh my days, so in love! With a surfing and beach theme for the day, from a wave style cake, to cockle shell name places and dashing blue flowers and bridesmaid dresses, I was in my element.

In a 1980’s convertible BMW, Claire arrived at the Hangleton Manor in Hove to meet her dashing groom-to-be waiting down the aisle. The ceremony was short, sweat and heartfelt and the celebrations long and fruitful.

I knew how excited Claire was about taking the photos and as I was fresh from training with Fellow Master Photographer, Simon John I was prepared with reflectors, manual flash, a few new techniques and contemporary poses. Below are just a couple of examples of photographs taken on the day.

Wishing Claire and Justin all the best for their future, looking forward to seeing you at the viewing.

With a grand attendance of 110 guests, I found myself climbing on the roof to fit in the big group shot!
As always, Worth Church provided us with the most romantic setting for Mell and Phil’s special day. After a touching service, the newlyweds were escorted to Gatwick Manor by the most beautiful white Rolls Royce which we had fun photographing in a staged ‘break down’!

Upon arrival at the Manor, we were presented with lots of photographic opportunities with the sunken garden and Windmill to play host to many of our group shots.

The speeches were heartfelt (and a little embarrassing for some), the food was amazing, but from what I have heard, the late night dancing was a little on the dodgy side!

Thanks to Mell, Phil, the beautiful Bridesmaids, handsome Groomsmen, family and friends for making this an unforgettable wedding.
